Are you a Conservative who wants to improve your local area?
Are there things about your community you would like to change? Do you believe local people should decide what is best for them? Would you stand up for your neighbours if they needed your help?
If so, you are the ideal person to become a Conservative councillor
New councillors are good news. They mean fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm, and that will be good for your council and your local area. By becoming a councillor, you really can make a difference to your local community. Being a councillor gives you the opportunity to help your local community and be part of a dedicated team providing key services for your area. Serving councillors are a broad mix of people from the local community.
Do I know enough to stand for election?
Don’t underestimate your own abilities. Each councillor will have something different to offer the council and you will not be expected to take direct responsibility for running the council on the first day that you are elected! Your main qualifications are a genuine concern for the community and a willingness to learn. Knowledge and experience will soon follow.
Have I the time to be a councillor?
You won’t have to give up your job or surrender your social life, and you will receive all the support you need to be a fantastic local councillor. Many councillors have work and family commitments as well as other interests which they successfully balance with their role as a councillor.
