Tessa Tucker’s goal is simple - to lead Exeter to become a modern, dynamic and thriving city.
She wants to champion policies and initiatives that will benefit everyone and create a vibrant Exeter we can all be proud of.
Tessa said: “I am a local Mum and have lived and worked in Devon for nearly twenty years. This is my patch. I understand the everyday issues and challenges in Exeter, but I also recognise the opportunities.
“I am determined to work hard and make positive changes that will improve outcomes for people right across the city.
“I don’t just want a plan for the city, I want action.”
Tessa’s background is in strategic communications. She has worked for some of the UK’s leading utilities, defence and automotive companies. This experience has given her a particular interest in how we use science and innovation to respond to climate and environmental challenges.
“I have worked for some of the biggest companies in the South West, but it is SMEs that are the backbone of our economy. We have some fantastic businesses here in Exeter and I am 100% committed to helping our business community thrive.”
As a Mother of three young children, she is also keen to deliver family-focused policies.
“I spent several years volunteering as chair of a local pre-school committee, so supporting families is really important to me. Whether that is making sure people are in easy reach of high-quality childcare, or cracking down on anti-social behaviour so the streets feel safer.”
Over the coming weeks and months Tessa will be getting out and about across Exeter listening to residents, community groups and businesses to find out what matters to them.
