Samuel Barnett is a Politics & International Relations student at Exeter University and is Secretary of Exeter North Branch. Originally from Wales, Samuel is focused on preserving green spaces which he believes are integral to our mental health and finding ways for local communities to combat climate change.
Sam is the city council candidate for Pennsylvania. Since coming to uni, Sam has focused primarily on campaigning in Pennsylvania where you can see him on the streets knocking on doors, delivering leaflets or you can hear his lovely voice during telephone canvassing.
Since the 2015 General Election, Sam has been campaigning for various Conservative candidates and has interned with a few Welsh Assembly Members. This experience taught him how vital politics is to our everyday lives even if we may not see it.
If elected Sam wants the council to be more transparent with residents knowing more about what their local councillors are actually doing, rather than hearing from them every election cycle. It is through this that Sam hopes the council will become more accountable and will deliver on the pledges made.
